Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® is dedicated to implementing service that enhance social, economic and educational well-being of local, national and international communities.

 

The 30th International President, Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover, has outlined the 2018-2022 International Program Theme as “Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service,” which focuses on five program targets, one signature program and seven community impact days created to achieve the sorority’s goals of “service to all mankind.” 

 

The five targets that are designed to advance the mission of Alpha Kappa Alpha with excellence and underscore our commitment to sustainable service are:

 

  1. HBCU for Life: A Call to Action

  2. Women's Healthcare and Wellness

  3. Building Your Economic Legacy

  4. The Arts!

  5. Global Impact

 

The Omega Rho Omega chapter will continue to fulfill Alpha Kappa Alpha’s mission to be of Service to All Mankind by addressing the critical issues that impact the lives of African Americans in our service areas: Eastern Henrico, Charles City and New Kent counties.

    HBCU FOR LIFE: A CALL TO ACTION 

    Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) have built an invaluable legacy in African American communities. Chapters will sponsor activities designed to showcase the historic significance and current relevance and viability of HBCUs.

    #CAP- COLLEGE ADMISSIONS PROCESS

    The sorority’s signature program, CAP is designed to assist high school seniors as they seek admission into college by providing guidance and support in completing the application and enrollment process and entry into college.

    WOMEN'S HEALTHCARE

    AND WELLNESS

    Alpha Kappa Alpha will continue to raise awareness about the critical health issues impacting African American women. The primary focuses are: Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention, Heart Health, Nutrition and Wellness, Self-Care and Care for the Caregiver. Alpha Kappa Alpha will introduce its own AKA Breast Cancer Mobile Screening Unit which will provide access to mammograms in targeted communities.

    BUILDING YOUR ECONOMIC LEGACY

    Chapter members are encouraged to support African American businesses and entrepreneurs in addition to educating the community about the value of supporting Africa-American businesses through their Black Dollar 365 initiative.

    *Operation AKA Assist is a project initiative in which the Omega Rho Omega chapter will strengthen the partnership with Housing Families First (previously known as Hilliard House) to raise awareness about homelessness.

    THE ARTS!

    Chapters will champion activities and events that showcase artistic talents of middle and high school students while bringing a spotlight on the Harlem Renaissance and which played a pivotal role in the development of African American art and culture.

    GLOBAL IMPACT

    Chapters will focus on global assistance activities and make an international impact by engaging in global projects that provide assistance to underprivileged areas populated by people of African descent.

Omega Rho Omega's signature programs include Relay for Life and Adopt-a-Highway. 

Community Impact Days

All graduate and undergraduate chapters will implement initiatives on the same day annually to demonstrate Alpha Kappa Alpha’s collective impact.

  • February 5th- Pink Goes Red for Heart Health

  • April 9th- AKA Global Impact Day Observance

  • August 22nd- AKA International Day of Prayer Observance

  • September 20th- AKA HBCU Day Observance

  • October 4th- Breast Cancer Awareness Day

  • November 15th- AKA Caregivers' Day Observance
