SERVICE AREA LOCATIONS
Eastern Henrico, Charles City and New Kent Counties

The journey began in the fall of 2015, when a small group of dynamic women endeavored to form a new graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® to be of “service to all mankind” in Henrico County, Virginia and its surrounding counties. With a goal to reclaim inactive sorority members as well as increase the presence of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® in the community, the vision and potential to establish a new graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® was in clear view. To help ascertain the need for a chapter in the target area, these ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha reached out to other Alpha Kappa Alpha members residing in Eastern Henrico County, Charles City County, and the New Kent County communities.
As a result of their efforts, additional Alpha Kappa Alpha women residing in Central Virginia joined this group and in the winter of 2015 the interest group, The Cultured Pearls of the James, was formed. The group consisted of 30 dynamic women with a variety of experiences and interests who joined forces because of sisterhood and a relentless dedication to community service.

On March 4, 2017, the Directorate of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® granted approval to The Cultured Pearls of the James Interest Group to charter a new graduate chapter to service the communities of Eastern Henrico, Charles City County, and New Kent. On Saturday, April 22, 2017, under the leadership of the 18th Mid-Atlantic Regional Director, Joyce Henderson, Omega Rho Omega Chapter was officially chartered.
Since the chartering, Omega Rho Omega has reclaimed several inactive members, maintained stellar commitment to its service areas, and participated in various outreach projects relevant to the communities it serves while living out the vision to ensure the continued success of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®.
