Compassion Fatigue: A Webinar for the Caregiver
Time & Location
About the Event
Do you feel like you are running on empty?
Join the Omega Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for an informative seminar focused on 'care for the caregiver' as they are coping with 'Compassion Fatigue.'
Many people in our community are caring for loved ones. The caregivers are often family members that are working, supporting their own families or maybe even dealing with their own ailments. Even still, they are trying their best to provide support for their loved one(s). Often times, while filling the caregiver role, they lose track of their own mental and emotional health, physical well-being, personal responsibilities, etc. They may have moments where they feel like “caring for you is hurting me.”
Compassion fatigue is a term used to describe the emotional, physical, and spiritual distress felt in those providing care to another person/people. Join us and our guest speakers, Dr. Mitchell Reid and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) Jettie Norfleet, to learn more about this condition, the related symptoms, the importance of self-care and how to preserve ourselves and each other while we provide care for others. We will also discuss the impacts of being exposed to stress and trauma and the effect that it has on those of us serving in the healthcare field.
This is a free event. Event link and details will be sent two days prior to the event.
